Watoto Pediatric & Adolescent Specialty is committed to providing the best total care for your children from birth to 21 years of age. We specialize in routine and preventive health care, as well as providing personalized medical treatment during times of illness. Our goal is to be your friendly neighborhood pediatric and adolescent practice, using modern medicine with a warm and personal touch. We are committed to the healthy growth and development of the whole child, as well, to become a positive influence in the lives of our patients and families.

In the 70s, Dr. Irving Williams, SR wanted to practice pediatric medicine in a developing nation. He moved the whole family to Tanzania for two years to practice in a hospital in Mwanza. After returning to the United States, Adventures in Health Education and Agricultural Development (AHEAD) inc. was created by Dr. Williams and Mrs. Elvira Williams to continue work in underserved communities. Dr. Irving Williams, II, decided to call the office Watoto which means “Children” in Swahili, to honor the years of service in Tanzania.

Nexplanon

Nexplanon is a hormonal birth control method that is placed under the skin in the arm. It is a long-acting reversible contraceptive, the method of birth control recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics for adolescents and young adults. Lactation Consultation

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for approximately 6 months, followed by continued breastfeeding for 1 year or longer with the addition of complementary foods.
