Irving C. Williams, MD, MPH
After graduating from Howard University Medical School, Dr. Williams completed an internship at Mt. Sinai Hospital and residency at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital in Wisconsin. He completed a fellowship in adolescent medicine at Harvard University and an MPH at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. After spending years providing pediatric and adolescent services at Group Health and Kaiser Permanente, he founded Adventures in Health, Education and Agricultural Development (AHEAD), Inc., a non-profit organization that works with underserved communities in developing countries. Dr. Williams is the Medical Director for AHEAD, Inc. and spends a few months of the year in Tanzania caring for sick children.

Upon graduating from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Williams completed his pediatric residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children. He joined Capital Area Pediatrics where he practiced for almost five years in the Ashburn, Falls Church, and Herndon offices. His interests include sports medicine, ADHD, and preventive medicine. In his spare time, Dr. Williams enjoys playing and coaching soccer. Currently, he coaches the U17 SYA Copperheads, the 2nd ranked travel team in Virginia. When time allows, you will find him travelling in Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean Islands.
Karen Browning, CPNP
After graduating with honors from Georgetown University and with a masters from Catholic University, Mrs. Browning spent time working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Georgetown University Hospital. She has worked as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for over 14 years. Her most recent positions were with Capital Area Pediatrics in Herndon and Whole Child Pediatrics in Ashburn. Mrs. Browning’s interest includes asthma, allergy, and childhood obesity. In her spare time she enjoys biking, running, cooking and having fun with her two boys and husband.
